This strand exists for anyone in the room with the children — at home, in a nursery, in a primary classroom or in a setting that holds both. The materials here are designed to be read, used, returned to and shared. Most are written for two audiences at once: the people doing the teaching, and the parents trying to understand what good practice looks like from the outside. The classroom focus is primary, with substantial early years material alongside.

Five published books for primary and early years practitioners and leaders, with three more in pre-publication. Topics include high challenge / low threat learning, the key person approach, leading early years through change, and what the children themselves teach us if we slow down and watch.

4 · The Knowing Practitioner — Early Years CPD
Six modules of early years CPD for practitioners and settings.
Knowing the Child, Care as Curriculum, Communication and Language, High Challenge Low Threat, Behaviour Regulation and Wellbeing, and Knowing Yourself as a Practitioner.
Each module has a video, a booklet and a slide deck: ninety minutes of self-study and an hour of team discussion, fifteen hours in all, with a reflective journal, a CPD evidence log and a certificate.
